I was fortunate to be Phil’s assistant director for those beginning years at Centennial HS. It was truly a privilege to be a small part of that program and to see how Phil’s commitment to education and musical excellence impacted the lives of the students, school, and the entire community. He is a legend in the music education profession! (Not to mention establishing a special brand of humor forever known as “Hartmanisms”!)
